
Abubakar S Ringim is a Graduate Research Assistant at Patuxent Environmental & Aquatic Research Laboratory – PEARL, Calvert, USA, where he is currently studying Sika deer on the Maryland Lower Eastern Shore. He holds a B.Sc. Zoology and M.Sc. Biodiversity Conservation from Bayero University Kano (BUK) in Nigeria and University of Dar es Salaam Tanzania respectively. Ringim is currently in his second year of PhD in Bioenvironmental Sciences at Morgan State University, Maryland. Ringim has been involved in national and regional conservation activities like the Nigerian Bird Atlas Project, and REDISSE Project, and is a member of the Nigerian Coordination Group of Key Biodiversity Areas. Ringim is based at the Federal University Dutse in Nigeria where is the current Head of the university’s Biodiversity Conservation and Education Unit. Ringim was the co-founder and Secretary Federal University Dutse Conservation Society (2018-date). Ringim has many scientific publications and is the recipient of Letters of merits/recognitions on biodiversity conservation activities from the University Management and others. Presently, Ringim is the Secretary Nigerian Society of Conservation Biology – NSCB, and former pioneer Secretary General Northern Nigeria Regional Bird Atlas Team, 2018-2020. He is a Representative member and Ambassador of the Nigerian Bird Atlas Project (2021-date), and member identification panel, Virtual Museum, Fitzpatrick Institute of African Ornithology, South Africa. Reading, wild travels, and watching wildlife documentaries, and wildlife photography are Ringim’s hobbies.
